The Ballroom Way Philosophy

At the heart of The Ballroom Way is the quintessential desire to make the world a better place through teaching the essential life lessons inherent in Ballroom Dance technique.

The Ballroom Way is dedicated to teaching the essentials of ballroom dancing (the moves, the patterns, the techniques, and the tricks) needed to be able to communicate effectively on the dance floor. Every ballroom dance instructor has dozens of stories of couples who have benefited from the magic and spark that dancing can provide. But learning to dance together on the dance floor is only half of the story. The real dancing takes place between couples in real life.

About Ballroom Dancing

Ballroom dancing provides a way for us to interact with one another in a physical and sensual way. Learning to hold a woman in a way that makes her feel safe, appreciated, and beautiful is a relatively simple and very effective improvement that a man can make to the quality of his life. If he is single, he will be able to sweep a pontential partner off her feet with greater ease; if he is in a relationship already, he can bring renewed spark and romance into his and his partner's lives.

For a lady, too, learning to follow ballroom routines and movements can prove to be surprisingly uplifting and freeing. Allowing her body to respond to his in a fluid, graceful, and effortless manner gives the woman confidence and power, not to mension the joy of "connecting" with her partner.

About Ellie Shoja

Ellie's Dance Experience

Ellie has been teaching couple and social dance for over ten years. She has worked for several independent studios across Southern California including Arthur Murray and Promenade. Ellie's dance background and experience is as colorful and diverse as her personal history. As an outgoing 3-year-old born into a large Iranian family, she started belly dancing and showcasing her skills and intuitive understanding of the music and the dance movements at every social gathering. As Ellie grew older, she was drawn to the structured and body-molding exercises of ballet, yoga, and pilates, which she has continues to practice and draw inspiration from even to this date.

Ellie's love affair with ballroom and couple dancing started when she became friends with a group of dancers who taught, danced, and performed street-style latin dances such as Salsa, Cha Cha, Merengue, Bachata, and Cumbia across Orange and Los Angeles counties. The more she danced, the more she couldn't get enough of it!

Now, over a decade later, Ellie continues to teach and inspire dancers of all levels, age groups, and backgrounds.

Ellie's Passions

Having been raised in multiple countries (Iran, Turkey, Germany, and the U.S.), Ellie's upbringing has been truly multi-cultural, multi-lingual, and multi-faceted. With her roots in education and a deep passion for insipiring others,  Ellie's mission is to help her students reach heights they never even knew were possible -- on and off the dance floor.

Ellie prides herself in the fact that she has never felt boredom. When she is not teaching dance, giving inspirational talks, or working on her next book, she likes to engage in a variety of activities such as hiking, camping, swimming, reading, painting, working on her video and art projects, spending time with her young niece, and enjoying the company of her close friends, siblings, and family.
